Annual celebration

Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated every year on 17 February and encourages us to be more generous with our time and resources.

Become a RAKtivist

You can even go further and become a RAKtivist- (Random Acts of Kindness activist!  There are currently over 44,000 RAKtivists in over 89 different countries and their mission is to make the world a better place one act of kindness at a time.

Some ideas to celebrate…

  1. Leave a secret message somewhere that has a positive message inside it. For instance, you could leave a little note that says “Hope you have a lovely day today!” on your train seat.
  2. Write a letter to an old teacher or mentor thanking them for all the knowledge they imparted to you.
  3. Buy something for the Food Bank.
  4. Make a list of your best friend’s lovely qualities and read them out to them.
  5. Cook yourself your favourite meal, knowing that you, too, deserve acts of kindness.
  6. Call a family member to say “I love you”.
  7. Make some time to chat to an older person.
  8. Take a look through your cupboards and wardrobe to see if there are things you can give to your neighbours via apps like Freecycle and Olio.
  9. If you see litter on the streets as you walk, take a second to put it in the bin.
  10. Offer to help someone who is carrying a heavy bag.
