Nutritional requirements can be individual and portion sizes can be adjusted for depending on individual factors such as, physical activity level and age. This means using the Eatwell Guide as a suggestion and adjusting your portion sizes to suit your individual needs and lifestyle.
How much do we need of each food group per day?2
- 5+ fruits and vegetables
- 3-4 portions of starchy foods
- 2-3 portions of protein foods

Some foods are required in larger quantities than others and choosing foods from a variety of food groups, in the right quantity is important for providing the body with the nutrients it needs.
